This blog post is very special to me so hang tight as I write a bunch of sappy and sentimental things. <3
On July 5th, 2019 Evan proposed to the love of his life, Rachel. It was a literally perfect evening. You know those movie scenes in Italian Wine Country where the sun is golden, the air is still and romance fills the air? Well this was exactly the way this proposal went.
I have known Evan since he was 13 years old. I remember the day his family and my family met. I remember how socially awkward we all were with each other. But that was the day that some of my deepest friendships and love for people began.
Along the years our families have vacationed together, traveled together, learnt from each other, moved away from each and grown so much.
A few years ago, Evan decided to move from New Hampshire to Scotland for a season. I remember all us siblings dropping him off at the Boston airport and wishing him the best time he could imagine.
Well, 2 years later here we are. Evan met his future bride in Scotland. Romantic, I know. They are ridiculously cute!
Rachel is beautiful, gentle, smart and the perfect match for Evan. I remember all of us joking that he would be returning from Scotland with his future wife. Guys…..be careful what you joke about because it might just happen.
Fast-forward to a few weeks ago……
Evan and Rachel came to California to visit my family and spend time with us. Little did Rachel know how special this trip would really be for them.
A few of us had gone out wine tasting in beautiful wine country all trying to contain ourselves because we knew what was coming. I “casually” carried my camera around that night to obviously capture the proposal I knew was coming.
As the sun began to set, we made our way to Mount Palomar Winery.
Shout out to Mount Palomar because they were absolutely amazing and left the gate open for Evans proposal!
We walked the vineyards casually and I asked Evan and Rachel to pose for a picture because they looked so cute. Well BAM, that’s when the big moment happened.
I remember Rachel saying, “Don’t joke with me Evan. This is serious” in her cute Scottish accent following him getting down on one knee.
She eventually realized that he was completely serious and SAID YES! From then on it was screams and then tears, shock and repeat.
After so many years of friendship, I am so grateful to have been part of this moment for Evan. I’m going to stop writing now because I’m getting all emotional all over again (lol).
Welcome to the family Rachel! We love you both!
